About:
I'm Jackie Baker, a freelance photographer, artist, writer, and film programmer living in Chicago, Illinois. Originally from the East Coast, I moved to Chicago in 2014 to begin a career in the arts—one that has evolved and taken many different forms over the last decade.
From an early age, I knew I was passionate about music. In 2019, I graduated from Columbia College with a BA in Audio Design and a Minor in Music Performance, and since then, I've been fortunate to have had some really incredible experiences in this city's vibrant, totally unmatched music scene. I've played in several bands, performed throughout the Midwest, run sound at venues across the city, interned at a couple studios—I even lived at a diy house venue back in 2016. Those years transformed me, both as an artist and an individual.
It wasn't until 2017 that I bought my first camera. A 35mm film Canon AE-1. Initially, I bought it to avoid having to pay for a band photographer (ironic, right?). I shot a few photos for Glad Rags, the band I was in at the time.
